WORDS Julian de la Celle
Alex Mullins has been one of our favorite up and coming designers since we saw his SS16 collection. He's a true artist and is always a stand out each season. Mullins is the type of designer that leaves a specific touch on everything he creates, and his pieces are always recognizable as being nothing other than his own.
In this collection we see a few things reminiscent of past collections - the orange and beige color scheme, the painted patterns. But we also see a new side to Mullins, something more. There's an extended artistry to it all, more abstract creations, faces being covered by thin, see through fabrics. A final touch: freckles. It's a curious choice on Mullins' part, but something evidently meaningful to the collection's image.
