KATIE EARY AW17: RISKY BUSINESS

WORDS Julian de la Celle

Katie Eary's AW17 collection was seductive and sensual with a strong reference to the golden era of 1970s pornography. Eary was inspired by Liverpool-born publisher Paul Raymond who published soft-pornographic magazines for more than 40 years; he passed away in 2008 at the age of 82.

The collection was full of a variation of oranges, purples and reds, with the occasional dark browns and whites. Soft silk pajamas and nightwear was prevalent, with other highlights of the collection including gecko prints, teddy bears in hand and hanging sweaters. The backdrop of the collection was fitting - a slew of watershed boobs. Compared to most of the other shows this season for LFWM, Eary takes a risk and pushes her creative freedom farther than most (with exception to the magnificent showcase from Charles Jeffrey) and in doing so, shows her audience that she is one to look forward to in the coming seasons.
