MAISON MIHARA YASUHIRO AW17: CONCEPTUAL VERSATILITY

WORDS Julian de la Celle

This AW17 collection from Maison Mihara Yasuhiro has to be one of my favourites this week, alongside Craig Green, Alex Mullins and Katie Eary. The incredibly dark blacks in contrast with some of the models pale complexions and sunken in cheekbones fuels the strength of the pieces. The matching of leather jackets and coats with the common beret is sleek and bold.

Something I find most interesting about this collection is the variety of different looks and colours. It ranges from blacks to dark oranges, purples to reds, and blues to greens. There is no "set" rule behind the collection which allows for the concept of creative freedom and variety. Yasuhiro doesn't constrict himself, but pushes boundaries by creating various options for everyone - a truly versatile designer.
