WORDS & PHOTOGRAPHY Julian de la Celle
Many of you may not be too familiar with The Broad in Los Angeles having just opened it's doors in September of 2015. The Broad is a contemporary art museum named after Eli Broad who financed the $140 million building. Being the first ever summer for The Broad, the aptly named "Summer Happenings at The Broad" saw it's second installment last night in Downtown Los Angeles with many different artists coming together for a night of art and creativity - Sky Ferreira was a DJ for the night playing 80s pop including Oingo Boingo, David Bowie and Prince. Soon after Richard Hell, punk icon and former frontman of Richard Hell & the Voidoids, conducted a reading from his very own writings. Before any of the performances, however, we were all able to look at the exhibitions currently being held at The Broad including Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life which showcases the photography of Cindy Sherman. The exhibit will remain open until October 2nd!
