The Raconteurs have returned with two new tracks. Below, you can watch the videos for “Sunday Driver” (directed by Steven Sebring) and “Now That You’re Gone” (directed by Dikayl Rimmasch). The two songs are the first taste of what we can expect from The Raconteurs’ new album, set for release in 2019.
Each song and music video has it’s own identity, giving us a glimpse into the future of the band, as well as a nostalgic echo from their past and even some influence of Jack White’s solo career and The White Stripes. On “Sunday Driver” you can here a layer of Jack’s guitar playing reminiscent of some of the tracks from Boarding House Reach but also the heavy hit of The Raconteurs’ “Solute Your Solution.” On “Now That You’re Gone” we have a classic Brendon Benson ballad that we’d come to love with songs like “Rich Kid Blues” and “Together” off of the two previous records.
So far, the band have only announced one live show, playing Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest in April (going under the name The Saboteurs) but I’m sure we can come to expect more announcements around the release of the record next year.
