Over the weekend Desert Daze proved to be this years savior of rock ’n’ roll bringing together the likes of Iggy Pop, Ty Segall, Thurston Moore, Eagles of Death Metal and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to name a few. The line-up alone was enough to hail Desert Daze ’17 as the biggest and most exciting yet. From the early hours of the day people flocked to the festival grounds to be immersed in the sounds of music and clouds of dust started up by the dancing audiences. A love for music and art is at the center of this festival, both from the festival goers and from the people behind the scenes - Founder Phil Pirrone, Art Director Mason Rothschild, Liquid Light Show God Lance Gordon, Photographer David Evanko, and about a hundred other people making sure it all felt like a genuine community. There is a certain energy that surrounds the festival grounds - The Institute of Mentalphysics - that instantly transports you to another mystical realm by giving guests a welcoming, yet still buzzy atmosphere. Mad Alchemy once again created beautifully stunning liquid light show visuals for multiple stages throughout the festival, specifically for acts John Cale, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Ariel Pink. Desert Daze has grown immensely in the past six years, pinning down even bigger acts and bringing in even bigger crowds, and we can't wait to see what 2018 has in store.
